IEEE Humanitarian Technology Challenge – Reliable Electricity, 2012
The IEEE Humanitarian Technology Challenge is in the final year; this three year partnership between the IEEE and the United Nations Foundation was the first time that a major humanitarian organization and a major technology association formed an up-front, collaborative relationship, to:
- Bring a more systematic approach to applying technology to solve world problems,
- Identify three challenges and drive solutions that are implementable and sustainable,
- Formulate solutions through a combination of workshops and the use of on-line collaboration tools.
Reliable Electricity is one the HTC projects where our group is collaborating. The target is to make electric power available for lighting and other electronic devices in resource-constrained environments. Key for education, provision of health services, and overall improvement of living conditions.
